People with pain or illness can rest assured knowing that coaching is a safe investment. Not only is coaching effective, but it also builds incomparable life skills.
People who are stricken with chronic pain and illness often do not have any money to waste. Often, their capacity to earn is limited and they might have to spend a large portion of their disposable income on health-related expenses. Due to this reason, discretionary spending is greatly curtailed and carefully considered. Many potential clients are intrigued by the idea of coaching and see its potential. However, they also fall into the category of people with limited financial means and therefore are hesitant to make the monetary commitment to a professional coaching program. You would be amazed how many people write to me with this exact concern. I completely understand the value of a dollar and how difficult money can be to come by. I never take anyone’s financial situation for granted and know that many prospective clients are struggling just to make ends meet.
When I was first stricken with chronic versions of my own pain, in my twenties, I was literally working 4 jobs just to stay afloat financially. This put huge pressure on me, and my family, and was certainly instrumental in causing me much physical and psychoemotional stress. Nevertheless, I found the money to do what I needed to do in order to reserve my health and therefore preserve my ability to work, earn and survive. I wish I had my own health coach back then. It would have been a much better investment than the money I spent pursuing traditional and complementary methods of back pain care.
I know that coaching is a great investment, because I am told this fact by my clients each and every day. So many of the people with whom I work tell me that they were originally hesitant to invest in something that they did not really understand completely. Most report that they were just not sure how the program would work for them. Remember, many of these people have also already spent literal fortunes on medical care, medications, orthotics, surgeries and various types of therapies. These people have learned that a high price-tag on a medical product or service does not guarantee its efficacy, for sure.
I am not knocking doctors, chiropractors or therapists. They are crucial components of the health sector. However, regardless of what type of service is rendered, the benefit either exists or not, but no continuing benefit will be gained upon completion of the service. If a patient invests in a drug, the benefit will only last as long as they continue to pay for the product. If the patient invests in chiropractic manipulation, then the benefits will only last for as long as the spinal adjustments can be afforded. If the patient invests in massage, then these must also be maintained indefinitely in order to provide a lasting boon to the health of the person. I think you see the idea here.
Coaching is unique in that it teaches life skills that transcend ongoing treatment. Coaching is not restricted by a limited duration of benefit or efficacy. In fact, the longer one practices the techniques involved in pain coaching, the more they will be rewarded with positive results. However, the most vital difference between an investment in coaching and any other pain management modality is that paid coaching is used for a finite duration, then the client becomes autonomous and can continue to benefit day after day, without having to pay another dollar for the rest of their life. Yes, it is true. In my program, clients are encouraged to commit to a 4 month program and during those 4 months of paid expert coaching, they will learn the skills they require to continue feeling better and functioning better for life. Now that is a great investment!
