Feel better. Function better. Live better. It is more than just my motto. It is a series of realistic goals that anyone with chronic pain can achieve. I find great joy in my work helping people to become better in every way, every day of their lives. The entire process of bettering others makes me better, as well; so we both win.
Better is a relative state of being. It implies improvement in comparison with yesterday, but never complacency with the level of success achieved. Things can always be better. This idea should not impose stress to achieve or improve. Instead, it is a mere fact. Life can always be better and can always be worse. The question remains, what can we do to make it better and prevent it from getting worse?
Feel Better
Feeling better can be difficult for people who are stricken with chronic pain and illness. Feeling, by defining is a sensation; a perception. It is a highly subjective criterion. The reason for this fact is that the mind interprets neurological data received from the body in much the same way a doctor interprets evidence obtained during diagnostic processing. In years past, doctors interpreted anatomical evidence very differently than they do now and many mistakes were made. In much the same way, your mind can misinterpret data and therefore create negative consequences, rather than promoting positivity in your health.
The mind can enjoy a paradigm shift in how it interprets pain and copes with it. This ability is within the reach of every person, since it is an inherent and inborn gift. There is no reason to suffer more than is objectively necessary and unfortunately, in my experience, the subjectivity of suffering is far worse than the objective version; often exponentially greater. In my coaching practice, I teach people to feel better despite whatever ails them.
Function Better
Functionality is important in life. Sick and pained people tend to really suffer in their functional capacity. Their physical impediments might not be easily managed, but are rarely the major causes of impairment. Instead, it is the collateral cognitive and emotional dysfunctions that result from chronic pain and sickness that truly functionally disable people.
One can easily learn to put aside the suffering and focus on their productivity. In fact, by doing so, the suffering retreats into the background, while the vibrancy of an empowered life advances. With time and practice, I have seen actual cures for dreaded diseases and pain syndromes come about simply due to diligent neuroplastic practice focusing on goals and life, rather wallowing in misery and awaiting death.
You can become as productive as you can imagine and more. You can do anything and everything. Nothing is beyond you.
Live Better
Yes, life is our fate. We are here and must do our best with what we have. What do you have? Most of my prospective clients would answer, “I have pain. I have suffering. Life is not fair. Life has not met my expectations. I have failed.” They do not see their own truth and the gifts that already possess. It is my job to merely become the mirror for their personal enlightenment.
Can you live better? How could it be done?
What do you need to do to make your dreams become reality?
Can we turn those dreams into goals?
Now, can we strategize a path towards success?
Can we test that path and make revisions as needed?
Where are we now?
Success? Well, look at that!
Feel better. Function better. Live better.
You can. You will. You just have to give yourself the chance to learn how.
