Practice makes perfect at all things. Positive practice makes for good habits and a healthy, happy life. Meanwhile, practicing negativity, cynicism and unhealthy behaviors exponentially increases the suffering that is already an inherent part of life.
The perception of pain depends greatly on the science of neuroplasticity. The mind can minimize pain or place it high on a pedestal, depending on conscious and controllable thought patterns.
When pain is the focus of life, it will become evermore the star of the show. The brain will wire new neuron connections to be sure of this occurrence.
On the other hand, when pain is purposefully relegated to second class citizenship in the mind’s eye, the brain will begin to disconnect neuron connections that help to measure pain, since it will view these stimuli as less important than other consciously-enacted patterns.
Likewise, the negative thought and behavior patterns that accompany pain or sickness also build harmful neuron connections, while the practice of positivity will create soothing neuron connections and results.
When I first discuss neuroplasticity with clients, they are intrigued, but often can not imagine the process working for them. This is usually because they try to think their way out of terrible pain for a few moments, fail, and become discouraged. If the process of minimizing pain were that simple, we could all summon the ability to live pain-free in a single breath.
Every one of my clients has one thing in common. They all have brains and these brains are the organs that receive pain signals. Neuroplasticity is the process that wires and rewires the brain constantly throughout life. This is universal of all humans and many evolved animals, as well. Therefore, I can assure each and every client that the process will work for them, as long as they practice towards eventual success.
Practice is what makes pain become so important in the first place. The symptoms occupy the conscious mind and the brain decides that these feelings must be prioritized. Therefore, the brain becomes sensitized to pain signals and does everything it can to increase its ability to receive and process them. Of course, this maximizes the suffering for any type of pain or sickness, making the symptoms increasingly more a part of the conscious thought pattern. This is obviously an endless, vicious cycle. This occurence also explains why so few people recuperate from chronic pain, since the condition does actually become a disease. However, it is a disease of the mind, not the body, and is based on an innocent evolutionary maladaptation to learning effectively.
All is not lost, however. This same neuroplastic process can be retrained to work wonders for chronic pain sufferers. This is the goal of my pain coaching programs. I strive to show each client that they have learned to suffer and now they have to unlearn the process.
Neuroplasticity is not some miracle cure for pain, nor will it force disease into remission, in most instances. However, when practiced with the clear intent to reduce the importance of pain and minimize its effects on life, neuroplasticity is scientifically-proven to provide satisfying outcomes in virtually every case studied.
Therefore, I return to the subject of this blog post: practice makes perfect. It took time for your pain to develop its current hold over your mind and body. It will take time to undo its power, as well. However, you can do it. All it takes is dedication to your coaching program and following the steps that are laid out before you. This is the power of expertly guided coaching; you will have all the help you need to accomplish each and every goal you set, including, and especially, pain management.
I urge all of you to do your own research on the benefits of neuroplasticity for managing pain and then contact a professional coach to get started on your own life enhancement program. I can speak from my own experience that pain can be markedly diminished in life. In fact, I continue to utilize the very same practices to keep my own pain in check, as I share with all my beloved clients. I know these techniques work incredibly well because they have literally saved me from decades of persistent, severe pain and all the negativity that goes hand-in-hand with it.
